EnergyAustralia has identified that there are emerging distribution network capacity issues in the Sutherland load area and that corrective action will be required in the future to maintain the technical and service requirements set in accordance with Schedule 5.1 of the National Electricity Rules. This report contains a final recommendation to address the projected limitation of the distribution system in this area.

EnergyAustralia has issued an Application Notice – “Development of Gwawley Bay Zone Substation“ on the 13th March 2009. No submissions were received regarding that paper. Accordingly the preliminary recommendation has been adopted.

This report has been published and will be available on the EnergyAustralia website until the 21st October 2009.

The report recommends the conversion of Gwawley Bay to 132/11kV operation and development of a new 132kV underground feeder from Port Hacking STS at a cost of $30.1M with completion in mid 2012.
